Your resume is your first impression to potential employers, colleges, or internship programs. A well-structured resume highlights your strengths, achievements, and qualifications in a clear and professional format. These essentail componenets of a resume outlined below will make yours stand out.

Tips and Tricks 

Many recruiters use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to scan resumes before a human sees them. To increase your chances: 

  • Use simple, professional fonts ​

    • Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri​

  • Match keywords from the job description ​

  • Save and submit as a PDF unless otherwise instructed

Highlight Achievements, Not Just Duties

Employers want to see impact, not just responsibilities. Use action verbs and quantify results whenever possible:

  • Weak: "Responsible for managing social media accounts." 

  • Strong: "Increased Instagram engagement by 40% in 3 months through strategic content planning."

 

Use numbers, percentages or specific outcomes to show success

3 Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Typos and Grammatical Errors - Use spell check and have comeone proof read

  • Generic Descriptions - Focus on accomplishments, not just duties 

  • Too Much Personal Information - No need for age, photo or full address 

  • Including Irrelevant Jobs- Tailor experience to the job you're applying for.
